La TronchaiseLa Tronchaise is a small village in the Limousin area of France - so small that it does not appear on any but the most local maps. All but one family are retired, all but one couple are French. There are no shops, no cafes, just peace and tranquillity. However, although La Tronchaise is small and a bit off the beaten track, it is by no means isolated. Nearby there is a small town with cafes, boulangeries, a supermarket and pharmacy. Close by are opportunities for walking, cycling, riding and a leisure lake. Sightseeing and shopping are catered for in numerous local markets, beautiful small towns such as Brantome 'The Venice of the Perigord', and Limoges itself with its long and distinguished history in the manufacture of porcelain and enamel. If you are interested in history you can follow the 'Richard Coeur de Lion trail' visiting the many small chateau in the area with links to Richard the Lionheart. Our holiday cottage, or gîte, is a small converted barn designed to accommodate two people. It would best suit a mature couple looking for a quiet, stress-free holiday in the country.
